Roland’s foraminifera

In case you want to know what I do when I am not working (or having heart surgery): I have just posted online a paper about foraminifera which I had written for Leitfossil (www.leitfossil.de), the amazing paleontology website of Andreas Richter. Foraminifera are fascinating single-celled creatures that are neither animals nor plants. I study them using a scanning electron microscope or by using sophisticated digital microscopes. I love both the scientific and the aesthetic aspects of this work.
